Coffee and Hypertension
According to the Greek researchers report, adults with high blood pressure who drank 1-2 cups of coffee in a day had more elastic blood vessels than those who drank less or much coffee. Along with our age, our arteries become hard, and it is believed will increase the risk of high blood pressure.
The new research suggests that coffee may neutralize this process. Previous research indicated quite interesting debate, whether coffee is good or bad for the heart. Greek researchers conduct their studies by involving 485 men and women, aged 65-100 years old, which lives in a small island called Ikaria, at Aegean Sea. More than a third of the population lives longer in this island, because most of them can celebrate the 90th birthday.
The nutritional benefits of coffee. Most of the participants are drinking Greek traditional coffee in small portions, the size of an espresso cup. Greek coffee is quite strong because it contains more caffeine than espresso. Greek coffee contains several compounds, including flavonoids, magnesium, potassium, niacin, and vitamin E to prevent blood vessels aging by blocking the oxidation process and reducing dangerous inflammation. Oxidation produces free radicals. This thing then will initiate chain reactions which damage the cells.
