Avoid Eating at Your Desk
Tight schedule and a pile of work which is waiting in the office make us have to exert all the time and energy on the office desk. It is difficult to leave the work; we often trick this by eating at the desk in order to save the time. But did you know that it’s not a good thing to do because it will reduce your concentration, productivity, and health.
Here are five reasons to eat anywhere except at your desk. Your desk is not necessarily a clean place to eat. Generally, your mouse contains 846 bacteria per square inch, while the keyboard is 719 bacteria. Rather than eat at the desk, you can use your time to walk to the cafeteria or restaurant. Walking has a myriad of health benefits. Try to enjoy the walking at least about 5,000 steps every day.
By eating at the desk, the time to mingle with colleagues would be reduced. Try for a moment to step away from the monitor and start a conversation with your colleagues. This also can improve mood after going through the monotonous days and will certainly strengthen your relationships with colleagues. Having lunch at the desk will potentially increase the portion of your food. Just like eating in front of the television, eating at the desk will make you not realize how much food that you have eaten.
By not eating at your desk, you give your brain a chance to freshen up. By walking about 15 minutes, your stuck brain will undoubtedly be able to think more clearly thus increasing productivity.
