This chemical will come out in smaller amounts on the people who are stressed and depressed, and that’s why anti-depressant drugs are interacting in our biochemical pathway to increase the serotonin level. When someone feels depressed, he will immediately look for comfort, because people will naturally avoid the pain (physical or emotional) and seek pleasure.

People who fail their diet tend to seek comfort from carbohydrate-base foods, especially the simple carbohydrates, because these foods provide high intake of sugar instantly and also stimulates the process of serotonin secretion which provides “happy” or “pleasure” effect.

So, if you perform diet for weight loss, for avoiding sugar craving or the desire to consume carbohydrate / sugar as a source of serotonin, there are some natural foods that have the same effect for increasing serotonin or counteract the desire to consume sugar.

These foods are referred to as the “happy food” due to its effect that could give a sense of happiness, but certainly would be better for your diet, such as: Bananas, Avocados, Grapes, Apples, Almond nuts, Brazilian nuts, and Eggs. In addition, due to busyness and work responsibility, we tend to experience the thing that called ‘rush disease’. In fact, we often have to eat in a rush condition.

To overcome this problem, try to treat yourself better, because problems everyday can drive our effort to achieve the ideal weight. So, stay calm and do everything slowly. By eating slowly, the digestion and the absorption of nutrients would be optimal.
